Screenshot from 2017 HBO Doc "If You're Not in the Obit, Eat Breakfast" showing 3 men sitting and talking in a comfortable looking room: Mel Brooks, Norman Lear on one side and Carl Reiner on the other. The words "Mel Brooks, 90" appear on screen.

If you’re not in the Obit, Eat Breakfast.

A still of the 1975 cartoon corresponding with the 1961 comedy album "The 2000 year old man" where a lion is biting a white-bearded man's leg.
The first song was a cry for help, according to the 2000 year old man: “A lion is eating my foot off, will somebody call a cop…”  This tape and The Muppets Comedy Album record were my formative comedic soundtracks.

This is still how the audience reacts to a live Tony Bennett concert, well in his 90s.
Mel Brooks, Norman Lear and Carl Reiner sitting in a nice looking living room on the set of the 2017 HBO documentary "If you're not in the Obit, Eat Breakfast" and are entertaining each other like crazy.
Mel Brooks, Norman Lear and Carl Reiner still find each other hilarious in their 90s. Norman Lear has recently become host of a new podcast; Mel Brooks and Carl Reiner get together daily to watch stupid movies.

Comedy nerd, or enjoy conversing with the elderly?  Watch “If you’re not in the obit, eat breakfast” from Carl Reiner and co.  I’ve been reading the perfect book companion, too: Judd Apatow’s “Sick in the Head” which consists of 600 pages of interviews with many of the people in this film and basically any comedian or comedy writer of the last 40 years.
