The actors are what first drew me to the show: favorites from General Hospital, Weeds and Devious Maids. Their soapy pedigree paired with an adapted telenovela meant I was fated to enjoy ABC’s 2019 summer series Grand Hotel.
The finale’s denouement bookends the season perfectly. The way it was shot made me recall each character’s introduction, the way that the audience was brought into the story in interesting ways without too much exposition.
The cinematography was beautiful and glamorous throughout the season. All of the crafts did a fantastic job. Grand Hotel hit so many notes for me: luscious, soapy, intriguing and fun. It was a perfect summer show.
