Never Have I Ever premiered on Netflix a few days ago and I think it’s Mindy Kaling’s best work yet. I’ve never really done this before, but I purposefully did not binge the ten episode season and only watched two or three episodes per day. Who knows when my next fix of new Kaling material will be available? I wanted to savor every moment.
I loved the story of Devi, the nerdy, competitive, egocentric, horndog teenage girl that acts impulsively and has only two friends. Those friends, Fabiola and Eleanor, have their own significant storylines as well, and I thought they were well developed and interesting.
I can’t wait to watch the first season a few more times- the mile a minute jokes that are Kaling’s signature are just as present. I laughed a lot but I’m sure I missed some when I was busy crying. By the way, this show has a wonderful sequence of coming outs. Never Have I Ever is a delightful, surprising and heartfelt show.
