The Bear
“The Bear” is immersive. The characters are imperfect. Food is ubiquitous. Most of the action is meal prep (which I love to watch but hate to do.) The b-roll deserves a mention. Each episode takes a style and theme.

Mixed-ish is a kooky, sweet and funny coming of age story. I just finished watching the second and final season. I delayed watching the last few episodes because I really didn’t want it to end. But I’d recently learned my lesson of putting off endings too long; first when the delightful “Doing the Most with […]
I’ve been on a Irish and UK dark comedy/slapstick streak lately and I am absolutely loving it. The show “Frank of Ireland” pretty much got me from the name. It took the whole first episode to get into it but once I did I finished them all right away. (Well, I passed out after episode […]
The Umbrella Academy is charming. Surrealist, violent, colorful; lush with dark corners and sharp edges. If you like pithy, flawed, disdainful heroes then here’s a whole family of them. “There’s no such thing as good guys or bad guys, there’s just people going about their lives.” Number 5 to Luther, The Umbrella Academy episode 105 […]
Council of Dads delivered fully on it’s melodramatic premise to NBC in the one 2020 midseason in which it aired.
To pass the time during the pandemic, the cast of the TV show “The Nanny” did a table read of the pilot episode. It’s a fundraiser for Fran Drescher’s charity Cancer Schmancer and a way to revisit a funny and delightful cast. There are visual gags, editing, and the organic chemistry between the cast remains after […]
“Back to Life” is such an original, wonderful show. You know how in life you can’t go back, you can only move forward, no matter what’s happened? That’s what this show is about. Miri Matteson is just trying to move forward and the world does not want her to forget what she’s done. Her parents […]
On the recommendation of John Cameron Mitchell’s instagram, I watched the Netflix special from Simon Amstell and could not have been happier or more touched. He has a similarity to the great Hannah Gadsby in the way that he tells his truth. I loved this special. It’s been a while since I’ve posted here and […]
